Wetting agent and emulsion stabilizer |
General Properties |
Does not ionize in aqueous solutions, and is clearly soluble in acids, alkalis and inorganic salts solutions as opposed to ionic surfactants.
Compatible with water, solvents and many kinds of oils. Can also be mixed and blended with other ionic and amphoteric surfactants.
Solutions in water dehydrate at the specific temperatures, showing hazy appearances. The temperature at which such phenomenon occurs is known as the cloud point, which represents the hydrophilic characteristics of the product. The cloud point decreases by addition of salts and alkalis, and rises with the addition of ionic surfactants. |
